EP #6: Are You Really Ready For Entrepreneurship?

You've probably heard before that entrepreneurship isn't for everyone, which probably makes you question your ability to launch a startup šŸ™„.

But for many aspiring entrepreneurs, the desire to do something on their own and be in charge of their own destiny is enough motivation to leave a 9-to-5 job -- regardless of their current professional status.

Pursuing entrepreneurship is not only a career choice but a lifestyle choice, so you want to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. If you are starting up only to gain money or power, you will not likely achieve success.

Questioning if you're cut out for entrepreneurship is normal (ACTUALLY IT'S IMPORTANT TO QUESTION YOURSELF)

On today's episode, I am sharing how to know if you're really ready for entrepreneurship.

When looking to go into the world of entrepreneurship, it’s important that you know yourself. I’m sure many of you have the burning desire to be your own boss or invent something new. That’s a good sign, but it’s not enough to go into entrepreneurship.

I believe that before you actually proceed with the start-up procedures, you should take time to prepare yourself for what is going to happen. Starting a business will seem easy compared to the steps that follow starting a business, which is making the business work.

So what I tell all aspiring entrepreneurs within my entrepreneurial community called The Corporate Misfit Club is, "take time to ask a few vital questions about yourself, your goals, and your business idea in general."

Here are the questions in today’s episode to ask yourself before starting a business and going into entrepreneurship:

  • Am I ready for this?
  • Can I handle the responsibilities?
  • Do you have the motivation to succeed?
  • Who?
  • What?
  • Where?
  • Why?
  • When?
  • How?

So I hope this helps you on your journey to starting your own business and becoming an entrepreneur.

It’s been said before, but it bears repeating:

Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone.

If you provided short, vague answers to any of these questions, then you should probably rethink entrepreneurship as a possible career choice. However, if you took the time to provide honest, thoughtful answers, then you just might have what it takes to start a company. Maybe.

But whatever you decide to do in life, it always pays to make sure that you do it for the right reasons. As Mark Twain once said,

"The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
